this and that

On March 7th, I performed a short piece, Andante in Am by Matteo Carcassi, at the Carleton students guitar recital.

There were around 30 people present, including other performers, and though the atmosphere was very relaxed, I was slightly nervous, it being the first time I performed anything on stage. I think it went pretty well, and you can judge for yourself by downloading an MP3 (1.25 MB) of my performance, courtesy John Ellinger, senior lecturer in music at Carleton. MP3s of other performances can also be found on his website, which is accessible only on campus at Carleton.

My name is Amrit Sundar Tuladhar and I am a student at Carleton College, Northfield, Minnesota. I am from Kathmandu, Nepal. On these pages, you will find a reflection of my time at Carleton and more.

I was given the name Amrit by my grandmother, and it is a Sanskrit word meaning a divine drink, food of the Gods, the immortality-imparting nectar. My middle name Sundar, that I share with my father and my brother, identifies the group that we come from among the larger caste, Tuladhar. Ethnically, I am a Newar. Wikipedia has an article on Newars and so does a friend’s page.

I am interested in many things. I am a Computer Science major in college, which means I am interested in many computer-related things. I also like reading and writing, playing ping pong and frisbee, playing classical guitar, and googling people. I can also spin many things such as frisbees and pillows on my fingers.

This and that is powered by Wordpress 1.5 and hosted at Gridley, Carleton’s student-run server. It is made to work on Mozilla Firefox, though it should look fine on other browsers. The current theme used is Jakarta. Read more about this site.

I finally got around to installing Wordpress on my Gridley account, so this starts. I don’t know how much or how little I will post here, but for now, I intend to make this a place for my coursework and other things I do and a way to keep my family and friends updated with what I have been up to.

The current design of this site is based on the default WordPress theme available with Wordpress 1.5, which is itself based on Kubrick. But I expect to make changes to the theme to my own liking.
